About the Laboratory
The Laboratory of Bioconjugate Chemistry was founded in 2011 as the successor of the Group of Molecular Biotechnology at the Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Fluorescent labels are the main topic of current research at the Laboratory. We develop methods to assemble fluorophores of different nature containing optimized linkers and functional groups for the following coupling with nucleic acids and proteins. Spectral and photophysical properties of labeled biomolecules (peferably oligonucleotides) is a point of interest.
Spin-off company Primetech LLC is dedicated for application of the achievements of scientific research to production of labeled DNA.
Besides, the laboratory has developed a series of reagents for cycloaddition known as “click-chemistry” including azide and alkyne derivatives of fluorescent dyes, cross-linking agents and reagents for modifying biomolecules with azide or alkyne functionality.
Also, we develop novel approaches and methods for immobilization of biomolecules for affinity chromatography, affinity LDI-TOF mass spectrometry, DNA and protein chips, etc., as well as for binding biomolecules to nanoparticles and other biological and biologically active molecules.
We participate in scientific cooperation with colleagues in Germany, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and open for new contacts.
